A Contrastive Analysis of Cross-domains of English and Chinese Color Words :
Taking “RED” and “紅” for Example
Abstract
Every object in the world has its color. Therefore, a magnitude of color terms has appeared both in English and Chinese. Color, as an important aspect of human experience, has been explored by many linguists, but most of the studies just describe the linguistic phenomenon rather than explain the underlying cognitive mechanisms.
This thesis makes a complete and detailed corpus analysis of color words “red” and “紅” from the angle of the cognitive view and displays both similarities and differences of domains of “red” and “紅” in English and Chinese. After a comparative study, we can generalize the definition of “red” and “紅” in English and Chinese. English and Chinese are both among the widely used languages in the world. Theoretically and practically, it is of great significance to analyze and compare English and Chinese color terms comprehensively.

摘 要
世界上的所有物質(zhì)都有自己的顏色，因此，在英漢語(yǔ)中出現(xiàn)了大量的顏色詞。作為人類生活的1個(gè)重要方面，顏色詞已經(jīng)被眾多的語(yǔ)言學(xué)者所研究。但是眾多的研究?jī)H僅停留在研究語(yǔ)言現(xiàn)象，而沒有從人類認(rèn)知的角度來(lái)分析。
本文從認(rèn)知的角度對(duì)語(yǔ)料“red”與“紅”進(jìn)行調(diào)查分析，發(fā)現(xiàn)在英、漢語(yǔ)中“red”與“紅”所使用的認(rèn)知域的相同點(diǎn)和不同點(diǎn)，通過對(duì)比研究最終歸納出顏色詞“red”和“紅”的定義。英語(yǔ)和漢語(yǔ)都是世界上應(yīng)用廣泛的語(yǔ)言，所以對(duì)兩種語(yǔ)言中的顏色詞進(jìn)行對(duì)比研究應(yīng)該具有重要的意義。
