　　M: I've got to put together a sales pitch to give to our clients in the morning. You always give such amazing presentations, I was hoping you could give me some advice about how to win them over tomorrow.

　　F: Sure, it's easy. First of all, the secret to a successful oral presentation is to keep things simple. People are listening and they usually don't have a long attention spans. Stick to about three or four points, give an overview of the points, then present them one by one, and then summarzie at the end. Be straightforward and organized and you're sure to be remembered.

　　M: What kind of visuals should I use to support the presentation? Do you think I should use powerpoint?

　　F: You should consider the size and interests of your audience. In other words, who is listening, and what do they want to hear… you can put together a PPT with some graphics and animations that will catch people's attention, but be careful not to go overboard.

　　M: I think I can put something together, no problem. But when it comes to tomorrow, I'll just be a bundle of nerves! How can I get over my fear of speaking in public?

　　F: You know, stage fright is very normal, most people get nervous before they have to speak in front of large groups. Just prepare well, rehearse beforehand, and trust that you will be great… and you will be!

　　當(dāng)然可以,這很容易.首先,口頭陳述的成功秘訣是把事情簡單化.人們是在聽,而且他們注意力集中的時間通常不會太長.按大約三四個點來講,先總體介紹各個要點,然后一個一個地陳述,最后再總結(jié)一下.一定要直截了當(dāng),有條理,那樣別人就一定會記住你.

　　我應(yīng)該用什么樣的視覺手段來輔助陳述?你認(rèn)為我應(yīng)該用幻燈片嗎?

　　你應(yīng)該考慮一下聽眾的多少及其興趣.換句話說,是誰在聽,他們想聽什么…你可以用演示文稿,再加上一些圖標(biāo)和動畫,那樣會吸引人們的注意力,但是要小心別走極端.

　　我想我能組織好,沒有問題.但一說到明天,我就非常緊張.我怎樣才能克服公開講話的'恐懼?

　　你知道,怯場是很正常的,大多數(shù)人在一大群人面前講話都會很緊張的.只要準(zhǔn)備好,提前排練一下,相信你會做得很棒的……你一定會成功的!

　　Small children have a short attention span. 幼兒注意力持續(xù)時間短.

　　Overview: a general description or an outline of something 概述;縱覽;概論;概況 Straightforward: easy to do or to understand; not complicated 簡單的;易懂的;不復(fù)雜的 a straightforward process/operation/solution 簡單的過程╱操作╱解決辦法

　　It's quite straightforward to get here. 來這兒相當(dāng)容易.

　　Visual: a picture, map, piece of film, etc. used to make an article or a talk easier to understand or more interesting 視覺資料(指說明性的圖片、影片等)

　　He used striking visuals to get his point across. 他用醒目的視覺資料解釋他的觀點.

　　win somebodyaround/over/round (to something): to get somebody's support or approval by persuading them that you are right 贏得...的支持;說服;把...爭取過來

　　She's against the idea but I'm sure I can win her over. 她反對這一想法,但我相信我能把她爭取過來.

　　go overboard: to be too excited or enthusiastic about something or about doing something 過分熱情;過分熱中

　　Don't go overboard on fitness. 熱中健身運動別過頭.

　　Get over sth: to overcome克服

　　She can't get over her shyness. 她無法克服她的羞怯心理.

　　stage fright: nervous feelings felt by performers before they appear in front of an audience 怯場(演員出場前的緊張不安)
