刈草的孩子
boy reaping
夕陽把草原燃成通紅了。
the evening sun burns the entire plain scarlet .
刈草的孩子無聲地刈草，
the boy reaper reaps the grass in silence.
低著頭，彎曲著身子，忙亂著手，
head bent,body curled,hands quick with work;
從這一邊慢慢地移到那一邊……
from one side he slowly moves on to the other.
草已遮沒他小小的身子了—
grass buries his tiny body
在草叢里我們只看見:
we see only, in the dense clumps of g1-ass,
一只盛草的竹簍，幾堆草，
one bamboo basket,a few mounds of grass,
和在夕陽里閃著金光的鐮刀……
and in the evening sun, gold flashes off the sickle.
(二)
我愛這土地
Love This Land
假如我是一只鳥，
If I were a biird，
我也應該用嘶啞的喉嚨歌唱:
I would sing with my hoarse voice
這被暴風雨所打擊著的土地，
Of this land buffeted by stomps ,
這永遠洶涌著我們的悲憤的河流，
Of this river turbulent with our grief,
這無}卜息地吹刮著的激怒的風，
Of these angry winds ceaselessly blowing,
和那來自林間的無比溫柔的黎明……
And of the dawn，inf`mitely gentle over the woods
—然后我死了，
-Then I would die
連羽毛也腐爛在土地里而。
And even my feathers would rot in the soil.
為什么我的眼里常含淚水?
why are my eyes always brimming with tears?
因為我對這土地愛得深沉……
Because I love this land so deeply.…

手推車
wheelbarrow
在黃河流過的地域
in the territory where the yellow river once flowed,
在無數(shù)的枯干了的河底
in the numberless dried-up riverbeds，
手推車
the wheelbarrow,
以唯一的輪子
with its single wheel,
發(fā)出使陰暗的天育痙攣的尖音
lets out a squeal that shakes the lugubrious sky,
穿過寒冷與靜寂
piercing the wintry chill,the desolate stillness.
從這一個山腳
from the foot of this mountain
到那一個山腳
to the foot of that mountain,
徹響著
the sound cuts right through
北國人民的悲哀
the sorrow of the northern people .
在冰雪凝凍的日子
on frost-bitten, snow-chilled days，
在貧窮的小村與小村之間
in and around destitute little villages，
手推車
the wheelbarrow,
以單獨的輪子
with its solitary wheel,
刻畫在灰黃土層上的深深的轍跡
carves out its deep ruts in the pale-yellow layers of eath，
穿過廣闊與荒漠
cutting through the vastness and the desolation,
從這一條路
from this road
到那一條路
to that road，
交織著
it knits together
北國人民的悲哀
the sorrow of the northern
