　　戰國時有個廚師宰起牛來又快又好，見過他宰牛的人都連連稱贊。梁惠王見他宰牛如此嫻熟，就驚奇地問：你的技術能達到這么高深的境界，究竟是怎樣練就的'呢?廚師說：剛宰牛時因為不知道牛的內部結構，我總是手忙腳亂，不但速度慢，而且要用很大的力氣才行。后來經過持續地練習，我把牛的骨骼、肌肉、筋絡的結構都完全掌握了，所以再宰起牛來就得心應手。宰牛刀在牛的骨節空隙之間輕巧地運行，不用蠻力就能夠破開骨骼。您看我的刀，已經用了十九年，還如同新的一樣。

　　梁惠王聽了不由點頭稱贊：不錯不錯，聽了你的話，勝讀十年書，我果然受到很多啟發。
