honorable judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:

　　it is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the english language.

　　about a year and a half ago, i took part in my very first english speech contest. when i stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, i could hardly speak. i stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. my fears had paralyzed me.

　　while my passion for english has never changed, i lost my courage to speak in public. when my professor again encouraged me to take part in this competition, i said no. i couldnt endure yet another painful experience. he looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. i will never forget his words. look, he said, we all have our fears, and you have yours. you could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. a winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.

　　i spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. then i made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: i would face my fears and take part in the competition!

　　as it turned out, my dear old professor was right. now, here i am, once again standing before a microphone. my heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, i have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

　　today, my speech is about talents,in my opionion, talents are indispensable in nowadays society. as is known to all that the fight among countries is actually the fight among talents.

　　first, id like to define the wordtalent in my idea, a talent is one person who is good at or expertised in some or multiple areas. nowadays, as the world developing goes on , if one country want to rank top or do a good job in the world, the country must have many talents.for example, china, the biggest developing country in the world, in the past 100 years, is always invaded by other countries, why ,the reason is that china at that time had not so many talents. if they had anti-intrusion leader talents in the war, needless to say,they would have beat those big powers.if they had talents in weapons manufacturing, nodody dares to provoke us.however, nowadays, its a totally different situation, china has become powerfulin all over the world, why ? because there are many talents serving the country, the civilians become more and more literated.more and more people go to university,more and more people come to receive further education. so what is that in return,talents in army protect our country from invasion, talents in commerce help make our economy keep in improving, talents in aerospace make the world see chinese manned spacecraft flying. talents in sports make china rank the first in the olympic games......

　　to sum up, talents will play a more and more impoetant role in the world, if one country intends to flourish, he must foster talents as many as they can ,thats all,thank you.

　　早上好！

　　今天我的主題是更加文明地迎接世博會

　　眾所周知，下一屆世博會將于21日在上海舉行。我們家鄉(xiāng)將有成千上萬的游客，那么我們應(yīng)該如何表現(xiàn)我們的禮貌呢？當(dāng)然，我們所有人都喜歡表現(xiàn)出我們的`良好舉止，所以我們應(yīng)該注意我們的日常習(xí)俗，中國是一個歷史悠久的傳統(tǒng)國家。年輕人應(yīng)該向世界展示我們的中國文化和良好的舉止。說起來容易做起來難，我們大多數(shù)人都不知道。有時他們到處扔垃圾，紅燈時過馬路。雖然他們知道這些行為不好，但他們?nèi)匀贿@樣做。我希望我們每個人都能參加這個社會實(shí)踐。我們應(yīng)該好好表現(xiàn)自己，尊重我們的老師等等，努力向世界展示我們最好的禮貌。

　　我認(rèn)為，我們在日常生活中應(yīng)該遵循以下三點(diǎn)：

　　第一：保持我們的衣服干凈整潔，過多的化妝對我們來說看起來不自然。

　　第二：要遵守古語：看不見邪惡，聽不見邪惡，說不出邪惡。

　　第三：我們應(yīng)該對別人有禮貌，尤其是對外國人。當(dāng)世博會到來時，會有很多外國人，我們可以向他們展示友好，我們可以向他們展示方法，我認(rèn)為我們的笑臉也是必要的。

　　展示良好的禮貌迎接21世紀(jì)的世博會。
